FCP’s core philosophy is based on four principles: Effective treatment provides continuity of care. Therapeutic change best occurs in partnership between clients and staff. Effective treatment is strength-based, and all lasting therapeutic change depends on family and community relationships.

Using these principles, FCP has pioneered the development of numerous family focused treatment models to address a broad range of needs that face both children and adults. By expanding its vision of “family” to encompass all the significant relationships that make up an individual’s world, FCP provides results-oriented service models: family and community based therapeutic services; specialized stabilization alternatives to psychiatric hospitalization; flexible support and wrap around services for individuals and families; crisis response and emergency service community organization and support systems; child and adult residential care continuums (including foster care); and specialized team services to address the needs of specific “at risk” individuals.

In Massachusetts FCP has become a recognized pioneer in wraparound services, which build on each family’s needs, strengths and values. Under FCP guidance, parents take the lead in designing service plans which represent a balance of formal and informal (community and family) resources. The FCP Wraparound Program is community based and identifies the services and supports that meet the needs of families of children with emotional special needs. The Wraparound Philosophy is driven by the belief that Interventions must be welcomed and driven by the family, based on their needs as well as strengths.

The naturally occurring support system is vital in determining success of an intervention, therefore children are supported to live in the least restrictive setting possible. Families are treated with respect and sensitivity to their cultural and economic needs, and are full participants in all aspects of service planning. Finally, families are provided services or funding to assist them in overcoming practical challenges such as transportation, child care, etc.

The guiding mission of FCP is to work in partnership with clients and the communities served. This value ensures a complete investment on the part of the organization as a whole to work from a base of shared vision. This belief impacts organizational expectations of roles and responsibilities. Decisions are made locally with local accountability and responsibility in partnership with the organization as a whole. In summary, the organization operates in partnership to achieve a shared mission, vision, and values.
